Marine Sealants |
| From
paper to wood, plastic to vinyl, Bostik offers a product that
stands up to the toughest substrates and
specifications. Available in one and two
component formulations, in a variety of container sizes and
colors, Bostik products provide durability and flexibility for
numerous industrial, marine and transportation applications.
To ensure seaworthiness of any vessel, Bostik
offers a variety of elastic bonding adhesive/sealant systems
that provide exceptional weather and water-resistant properties.
The range of marine products has been engineered for high
performance elastic bonding and sealing of marine plywood,
aluminum, fiberglass or other composite materials used in
building marine vessels.
Bostik marine sealants form a durable,
elastomeric waterproof seal for applications above the
waterline. Some of the marine sealants offer excellent UV
resistance and will not shrink, chalk or crack over time. All
Bostik marine sealants are easy to use, easy to sand and paint,
non-gassing products that stand up to the harshest marine
environments.
Marine sealants are used for permanent
sealing or for service and repair applications including sealing
of deck
hardware and hatches, around doors and
portholes, deck-to-hull assembly, through-hull fittings and
seams, keel joints and undermoldings, or bedding navigational
equipment. |

MSR Primer G (BSI-MSRP) |
|
is
a "black out" primer to be used on glass, polycarbon (PC) and
acrylic glass without ceramic coating (frit) before dispensing
the glazing 70-08A sealants/adhesive.
Primer G provides ultraviolet light
protection to the bond line. Note: UV protection is required for
all direct glazing (windshield and windscreen) bonding
applications. Factory applied frits provide UV protection.
Primer G must be used on glass that
does NOT have ceramic coating (frit) and must be APPLIED
BEFORE the glazing adhesive (70-08A). |
| Product Applications: |
 | Pretreatment of glass substrates
without ceramic coating (frit) |
|
 | Repair of damaged pain layers on metallic supports |

MSR Primer M (BSI-MSRM) |
|
is a
“wash primer” that improves bond
strength of SMP-based products on most
non-porous substrates.
Use
Primer M on non-porous substrates. In
cases where high thermal or physical
loads—especially under humid conditions
requiring ultimate adhesion—use Primer
M. A clean, dry and grease free
substrate is necessary for ultimate
adhesion. Read and follow instructions

9732 RTV (BSI-9732RTV) |
|
Bostik® 9732 RTV silicone is a one-component, acetic acidic
cure, marine grade sealant that cures to a tough, flexible,
rubbery elastomer. Its outstanding weatherability, mildew,
chemical and temperature resistance allows the sealant to retain
its original appearance, adhesion, elongation and tensile
strength properties after years of exposure |
| Product Applications: |
 |
General purpose sealing, bonding, and fastening |
|
 | Making formed-in-place gaskets for gear boxes,
compressors, pumps |
|
 | Sealing equipment compartments and machinery to prevent
water exposure |
|
 | Sealing air conditioner units, exterior flashing, duct
work |
|
 | Bonding brackets, nameplates, gaskets in marine
applications |
|
 | Sealing around shower stalls, bathroom head and sink,
interior kitchen area |
|
 | Sealing around gauges, drive trains, engines as a
form-in-place gasket |
|
 | Bonds well to glass, fiberglass, painted or unpainted
aluminum, stainless steel, abraded rubbers, non-oily woods
and many plastics |

(BSI-940FS) |
|
Bostik® Marine 940 Fast Set is a
high performance, rapid moisture-curing, fast skinning,
one-component, hybrid polymer sealant/adhesive based upon Silyl
Modified Polymer (SMP) Technology; specially formulated to
withstand harsh marine environments. Possesses UV resistance, is
sandable and paintable. Exhibits superior adhesion to porous
and non-porous surfaces in most applications without the use of
a primer, a feature not typically found in traditional
sealant/adhesives. Maintains elasticity within temperature range
of -40°F to 212°F (-40°C to 100°C). |
| Product Applications: |
 | Bonding and sealing applications, where permanent
elastic bonding between surfaces is required |
|
 | For use above and below the waterline--provides
outstanding adhesion and UV resistance properties
for sealing deck hardware, through-hull fittings, rub-rails,
and portholes |
|
 | Combines the adhesion/mechanical properties of a
urethane, plus the UV resistance of a silicone |
|
 | Provides optimum bonding or aluminum, steel, fiberglass,
EPDM rubber or PVC--typically without use of primer |
|

940 Fast
Set Finishing and Cleanup Instructions |
|
|
(BSI-M940A) |
|
Bostik® Marine 940A is a
slower skin (30 to 45 minutes) formation version of 940 Fast Set
(15 to 20 minutes). Bostik® 940A is
formulated to withstand harsh marine environments and has a
longer open-time which allows for longer working times,
especially on larger applications; is UV resistant
(non-yellowing), sandable and paintable. It combines the
adhesion / mechanical properties of a urethane, plus the
flexibility and UV resistance of a silicone |
| Product Applications: |
 | Bonding and sealing applications, particularly where
permanent elastic bonding between surfaces is required |
|
 | Bonding and sealing above and below waterline |
|
 | Sealing deck hardware, through-hull
fittings, rub-rails and portholes |
|
 | Optimum bonding of aluminum, steel,
fiberglass, EPDM rubber or PVC typically without use of
primer |
|
 |
|
|
(BSI-70-08A) |
|
Bostik® 70-08A
is one-component adhesive, high tensile strength; outstanding
green strength, which reduces and eliminates clamping and
assembly times. Contains no solvents and is isocyanate-free.
Comes with conic nozzle for narrow grooves ("KCA" version) or
comes with precut V-shape nozzle for KV version |
| Product Applications: |
 | Direct bonding of screens, windows, windshields, glass,
polyacrylate and polycarbonate |
|
 | Excellent bonding of push borders, sheets, deck hatches,
portholes, deck fittings, and deck-to-hull connections |
|
 |
|
|
(BSI-70-069SR) |
|
Bostik® 960 SR is
a fast skinning, moisture-curing sealant based upon Silyl
Modified Polymer (SMP Technology); specifically formulated to
withstand harsh marine exposures that are encountered in "above
deck" applications. 960SR eliminates the damaging effects of UV
(non-yellowing, non-chalking, non-cracking) that boat builders
and owners have expected with other unconventional urethane and
silicone sealants.
Unlike conventional silicone sealants, it is
sandable and paintable. Unlike
conventional urethane sealants, it can be tooled before skin
formation using isopropyl alcohol (water or soapy water can also
be used). 960SR has better adhesion to porous and non-porous
surfaces than silicone; but ,unlike urethanes (where disassembly
may occur) it will NOT damage or "pull" gelcoat |
Product Applications:
| Targeted for
permanent sealant applications as well
as for service and repair found "above
deck". |
|
|
|
 | Bedding Navigation/Port Lights |
|
 | Deck Cleats, Hatches |
|
 | Rub Rails, Stem Joints |
|
 | Door Flanges, Trim, Trunk Joints |
